The Nebraska Languages Association (formerly NILA, now "NEBLA") is a professional organization dedicated to the support and promotion of the teaching of languages in the state of Nebraska. Everyone who is actively engaged in the teaching of an international, indigenous, or visual-manual language at any level of education in Nebraska is a member of NEBLA.
NEBLA is an affiliate of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), Central States Conference on the Teaching of Languages (CSCTFL), the Joint National Committee for Languages & National Council for Languages and International Studies (JNCL-NCLIS), the American and Nebraska Association of Teachers of German (AATG/NATG), the American and Nebraska Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF/NATF), the Chinese Language Teachers Association (CLTA) and the American and Nebraska Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP/NATSP). At the state level NEBLA cooperates with the Nebraska Department of Education with the assistance of its Coordinator of World Languages Education; Dr. Chrystal Liu, and its English Learner Specialist; Anne Hubbell.
